THE VALUE OF MARTIAL ARTS – 3

Today we continue the discussion about Martial Arts Life Skills, and their importance to – the individual, the family, and the community.

Number 3: RESPECT

RESPECT is something we talk about in our High School Programs. Having respect for your training partner, the equipment you’re using, and the school you are visiting and representing. We discuss how respect is a two way street – which is why we bow to one another. We show respect to our training partner and instructors by looking after them, and not trying to injure them. In turn our training partner takes care of us the exact same way.

This notion and understanding of respect is taught within Martial Art programs. The goal of any class is for self improvement, not for an ego boost by hurting others. We show respect by listening to our teachers and instructors as they guide us on the road of self improvement.

🥋Martial Arts can help strengthen your notion and understanding of respect.
✅We show respect to our training partners by taking care of them. Whether they are familiar or not, we ensure they’re safe and engaged in the class.
✅We show respect to ourselves by continuously trying to improve. There is reason to the student being on the mats training – respect yourself by giving it your best.
✅We show respect to the school we represent. We bow and we acknowledge the rules and guidelines. Being a part of a Martial Art school is being part of a community, and a family.
