This Term we’ve been visiting Brigidine College in Randwick to run a Mini Muay Thai Program (we’ve been working with Brigidine College for over 10 years now!).

This unique program was made available to girls in Years 9 and 10, and we currently have over 80 girls participating. Since Week 2 of Term 3, the girls have been learning various Components of Muay Thai for an assessment:

  • Component 1: Stances and Movement, basic 5 count combinations, defence
  • Component 2: Intermediate 3 Punch combinations
  • Component 3: Teeps and Roundhouse Kicks
  • Component 4: Putting the above skills together to create various Combinations

Currently the girls are being assessed and marked on the above skills. In the group classes, the girls were taught the movements in line with the marking criteria. Over a period of 4 lessons they will showcase their skills to Master Chris and their teachers from Brigidine College. This program is all part of their PDHPE lessons with the curriculum in line with the Education Standards of NSW.
