If you’re looking around for what form of training is right for you, it’s important to remember the difference between a Gym and a Martial Arts School.

GYM:

Typically speaking, when you attend a gym you come in at a time that suits you, you do the workout that you want to do, and then you leave. Your workout can be structured or unstructured and can suit whatever you want to do on that day. Each day may differ in workout, and each day may differ in the time you attend the gym, and the duration of time you are there for. A Gym is a place that helps you improve your Strength, Physical Appearance and Fitness.

MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL:

A Martial Arts School uses the key word ‘school’. A school is a place you attend at a specific time, to learn a specific skill, and a place that has rules and a structure to ensure a safe, engaging and progressive learning environment. A Martial Arts School is a place where you improve you Fitness, Flexibility and Muscular Endurance, while at the same time learning Self Defence. A Martial Arts School TEACHES you, it isn’t a place where you come in and do your own thing and then leave. To sum it up, a Martial Arts School is all about LEARNING.
