On Sunday 15th May JAI sent a small team of 9 students to compete at the WAKO National Team Selection Tournament.
This tournament featured fighters from all over Australia competing in modified competition rules. For many divisions, fighters won won – or performed well enough to impress judges – would have the chance to be a part of the Australian Team to compete in Ireland against the worlds best.
For this tournament we sent 6 students to compete for their very first time, with 3 having previous experience. All of our fighters fought with courage and determination as we secured a medal tally of 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze. Well done to all of our fighters and a big thank you to our coaches who stepped in to look after the fighters.
A SPECIAL MENTION to JAI instructors Mr Jesse James and Miss Orlanda Zuanic. Mr Jesse has won his spot on the Australian Junior Team, while Miss Orlando was selected as a Wild Card entry. Both will train in Italy before competing in Ireland. Well done Mr Jesse and Miss Orlanda.
